Paradoxical Change in the Gastric Microbiome Structure in the Helicobacter pylori-related Advanced Gastric Mucosal Atrophy
Shijimaya T, Tahara T, Shimogama T, Yamazaki J, Kobayashi S, Nakamura N, Takahashi Y, Tomiyama T and Naganuma M
Risk of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-related gastroduodenal diseases is influenced by the degree of chronic gastritis, while other microbes reside in gastric mucosa may be relevant to this process. This study aimed to characterize the microbiome composition in the gastric mucosa, especially with an attempt to its correlation with histologic and serological degrees of H. pylori-related gastritis.
Measuring Fatigue and Heart Rate Variability Using A Wearable Patch in Ulcerative Colitis Patients: A Cross-Sectional Pilot Study
Metselaar PI, van der Hoff MJ, van den Broek TJ, Kamstra RJM, Uzunbajakava NE, Welting O, van den Brink WJ, Te Velde AA and Löwenberg M
Heart rate variability (HRV) can detect the onset of inflammation in ulcerative colitis (UC), a condition in which fatigue is an often-overlooked symptom that significantly affects patients' quality of life. Here, the capability of a novel validated wearable vital signs patch measuring HRV to assess disease activity and fatigue severity was explored in UC patients.
Long-Term Reflux Outcomes-A Pragmatic Study of Mucosal Integrity Testing
Dasarathy D, Samy A, Treat S, Naik R, Slaughter JC, Vaezi M and Patel D
Mucosal integrity testing (MI) is a diagnostic modality for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The aim of this study was to evaluate whether MI predicted long-term improvement in reflux symptoms and the ability to discontinue proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

Concurrence of Reflux Disease and Colonic Neoplasia
Buchner AM and Sonnenberg A
Prolonged inhibition of gastric acid secretion may constitute a risk factor for colon polyps (CP) and colorectal cancer (CRC). We hypothesized that esophageal diseases treated with antisecretory medications may be associated with an increased frequency of CP and CRC.
Effects of Mobile Health Technology Interventions on Body Weight and Liver Enzymes in Patients With Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A Meta-analysis

To systematically evaluate the effects of mobile health (mHealth) technology interventions on body weight and liver enzyme levels in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Combined Endoscopic and Radiologic Approaches for Differentiating Inflammatory and Fibrotic Strictures in Crohn's Disease: A Comprehensive Diagnostic Strategy
Xu X, Li W, Ling T, Lan X, Wang Y, Yuan F and Zhang T
Distinguishing between inflammatory and fibrotic strictures is crucial for guiding treatment strategies in Crohn's disease. This study aims to identify the optimal approach for differentiating intestinal strictures in Crohn's disease by combining endoscopic and radiologic examinations.
Invisible Burdens: The Influence of Stigma and Social Determinants on Quality of Life in Perianal Fistulizing Crohn's Disease
Shenoy S, Debroff J, Lacoste J, Giselbrecht E, Gbenebitse NO, Llona R, Moran HR, Rozenberg F, Keefer L and Wong SY
Perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease (PFCD) is known to impact patients' quality of life (QoL). However, the interactions between PFCD activity itself with patients' psychosocial well-being and social determinants of health (SDOH) are not fully understood.
Short-term and Long-term Efficacy of Gastric Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy for Refractory Gastroparesis: A Meta-analysis
Khan S, Shafiq M, Khan MA, Ahmad A, Ehsan N, Ahmad N, Tripathi A and Esfandyari T
Gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM) is an emerging endoscopic approach to treat refractory gastroparesis (GP). Previous studies have shown short-term benefits, but the long-term outcomes are unclear. This analysis evaluated the short- and long-term efficacy of G-POEM compared with standard medical treatment for adults with refractory GP.

Sharma NR, Gopakumar H, Malik TF, Khan A, Dahiya DS, Vohra I, Zelt CM, Rumple A, Flanagan M, Mendoza-Ladd A, Adam AA, Saeed AB, Othman M, Ngamruengphong S, Arayakarnkul S, Bhatt A, Yang D, Bilal M, Rojas De Leon M, Schlachterman A, Madaka P, Kamal F, Kumar A, Thompson B, Kedia P, Diehl D, Shah S, Sedarat A, Wang AY, Dhaliwal A, Pannu DS, Mizrahi M, Kahaleh M, Andrawes S and Draganov PV
The ideal resection strategy for rectal neoplasms extending to the dentate line (RNDLs) remains unclear. Transanal surgical approaches and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) have their limitations related to inadequate visualization, device maneuverability, and securing an adequate margin on the anal side. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) appears to overcome some of the limitations of transanal surgical and snare-based endoscopic techniques. Therefore, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of ESD for resection of distal rectal lesions within 2 cm of the dentate line.
